Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue/Therapeutic
Relieve your pain, Healing your body
What is it?
Deep Tissue Massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, or who are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also common for clients of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.
How does it work?
I begin your Deep Tissue massage with a lighter pressure so I can evaluate and prepare your body for the later work. After this is complete, greater pressure is applied GRADUALLY so as not to damage your tissue. Often I will use my elbows, knuckles or other tools to apply greater pressure to the area being worked. While this is a deeper treatment you should NEVER be in pain. My intent is to work on the border of resistance and release of the muscles and fascia.
Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep therapeutic body work it is important to communicate what you are feeling to your therapist.
